##FSA Community coordinator - Part time contractor Job description

Team: Participation, Locations: All/Remote
Term: Part time - 20h/week
Start date: Immediate
End Date: End of July 2016

Mozilla currently has an active student ambassador program with 40K supporters, over 150 active University campuses globally, and talented volunteer leadership. The program has been growing for a few years and becoming higher-impact. Until now, there has been a focus on marketing.

We think there is a good growth opportunity: both in the number of campuses and in active student leaders, volunteers and activists. We also envision the program expanding volunteering opportunities beyond marketing, into technical areas, advocacy and teaching.

This role would give you the opportunity to be on the leading edge of a new phase in Mozilla’s student ambassador program, managing and growing the impact of a community of University students around the world.

This role is for you if you stand out as…

…someone who has a track record of finding and rallying the most talented and committed individuals, and getting the best out of them as leaders . You are great at unleashing the talent and creativity of young people.

…a superb communicator, being able to articulate ideas in a very compelling way through 1:1 interactions, writing and presentations

…a campaigner, designing detailed action plans and executing them by enabling and managing a mixture of volunteers and staff

As the Community Coordinator of the FSA Program you will be responsible for…

Supporting Campus Campaign:

  • Work with the rest of the Participation Team, and other teams around Mozilla, to support the planning and roll-out of the Campus Campaign. Coordinate the distribution of campaign materials, resources and “playbooks” to enable a large group of volunteer participants
  • Manage day-to-day support, communication and reporting needs of activities campaigns
  • Recruit and manage/coach volunteer leaders (Regional Ambassador Leads, Campus Campaign leaders) – in coordination with local Mozilla communities – who can in-turn support other volunteer ambassadors to be highly effective.

Community and program management:

  • Do an audit of where we have active FSAs, what they’re doing, what they want and present a report on the state of the program.
  • Start an alignment process with the Reps program and other Participation initiatives.
  • Hold regular meetings with the FSA Eboard, Regional Ambassador Leads and other FSAs to coordinate activities and operations
  • Oversee and execute communication and social media strategies and activities, including regular social media, email updates, blog posts, a monthly newsletter, etc
  • Oversee and coordinate with Reps program coordinator to improve budget and financial management processes, with the support of other staff members on the Participation and Accounting teams

The skills and background you bring…

  • Experience in recruiting, leading and coaching teams of volunteers with diversity of background and skills (and ideally other volunteer leaders). Ability to inspire the respect of and develop followership from teams of volunteers
  • Understand and can relate to young people/University students (and they can relate to you)
  • Experience developing and executing campaigns and/or projects
  • Globally aware and cross culturally clueful
  • Experience working in an open-source style organization that has distributed decision-making, a high need for consensus building, and higher than normal feedback and notification cycles.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple different priority areas and demands, and manage your time effectively
  • Great written and verbal communication skills

Bonus if you bring…

  • Experience and skill in facilitating group meetings, learning workshops and/or difficult conversations
  • Experience working with a geographically distributed team
  • Experience with managing social media channels
  • Experience in online collaboration and project management tools
  • Basic HTML, CSS and graphic design skills
  • Experience working on the issues or technologies that Mozilla cares about
