Need clarification about SDK extensions deprecation consequences

Hi,

Just need clarification please. SDK extension will be deprecated starting from Nov. 2017. Can you clarify what will this enatils? It is clear that Mozilla will not offer them in the Addons store.
But, does the deprecation entails that SDK extensions will NOT RUN in new browsers even if I allowed non-signed extnesions (I am aware of the security issues but assume that I trust my own SDK extension).

In other words, does the deprecation means I have to run an old version of FF in order to run my legacy SDK extension even if I trust it and will allow non-signed extensions to run it?

That is correct. Legacy add-ons will not run on Firefox 57.

Deprecation with Firefox 57 means that if you want to run legacy SDK/XUL add-ons, you’ll need an alternative such as :

  • Pale moon
  • Keeping an old Firefox version running (not recommended for security reasons)
  • Migrate the add-ons in question into web-extensions.
