Ability to receive donation via bitcoin on addons.mozilla.org

Occasionally, I receive questions from users whether I have a donation option. Currently, addons.mozilla.org is tied to PayPal. But it’s not possible to receive payments via PayPal in my coountry. So, I’d like to suggest adding

  • some field where add-on developers could paste their bitcoin address which will be displayed as a convenient button so users could directly send donation via bitcoin.
  • use some intermediary to make it possible for user to easily send a donation via PayPal but send it to developer via bitcoin.

Also, some bitcoin alternatives can be considered too.

One possibility I’ve been considering is that instead of having the complex Paypal integration we have now, we just give developers a URL field where they can enter whatever payment service works best for them, and have the contribution button open that site in a new tab.

Would that work with Bitcoin, like you need?

It should. I’ll try some services which allow to receive bitcoins via paypal and report here if there are some good ones.
